40 MSEK to UN Appeal for Southern Africa

Sida supports the UN Consolidated Inter-Agency Appeal in Response to the Humanitarian Crisis in Southern Africa (July 2002- June 2003) and the UN Mid-term Review 2003. The appeal covers six drought affected countries: Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Sidas support is 40 MSEK in total and is channelled through FAO (17 MSEK) for agricultural inputs, UNICEF (20 MSEK) for water, sanitation, education and health and to OCHA (3 MSEK) for humanitarian coordination.
