Tourism in Sweden 2005

 

The Swedish Tourist Authority (Turistdelegationen) is from January 2006 a part of The Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth (NUTEK), Sweden´s national public agency for economic policy issues.

The purpose with the recently presented publication about the development of the tourism sector in Sweden year 2005 is

  • to ensure companies and organizations in the tourist industry access to relevant market information so that they can develop their operations successfully and with improved profitability;
  • to increase the visibility of the tourist industry by presenting it in economic terms in the same way as other industries;
  • to attract greater attention to  the effects of the tourist industry on the Swedish economy.

In this publication tourism and the travel and tourism industry are illustrated from a large number of different perspectives, such as supply and demand, currency flows, economics, volumes and behaviour. You will also find comparative statistics in regard to other Nordic countries and with the development of tourism in the world.
