ICT and gender equality - UN Committee of Experts on Public Administration

9th session of the UN Committee of Experts on Public Administration held on 19 April to 23 April 2010, New York had as one of the key issues 'Information and communications technology and gender equality' on the agenda. FLACSO-Argentina and WIGSAT have prepared a presenation in which they stress, that ICT present today new opportunities and challenges for public administration to implement the internationally agreed development goals, including the Millennium Development Goals.

EIB supports Ericsson R&D centres of excellence across Europe

The European Investment Bank
(EIB) is to provide a 400 million euro eight year loan facility to the Swedish
telecommunications equipment manufacturer Ericsson for research and development
(R&D) activities in its centres of excellence in the EU and central Europe.
Through its R&D activities, Ericsson has contributed towards to
definition of global technology standards and the development of the
telecommunications sector in Europe into one of its leading industries.

Commission moves to bring '.eu' domain name nearer

The European Commission
has presented a new revised proposal for regulation of a 'dot eu' top level
domain name, incorporating the comments from the European Parliament. This
should mean that the registry to operate the name is operational by the
beginning of 2002.
