The Baltic sea region is characterised by intensive development among other things in the social-economic sector. Transformation period, democratic development, social and economic reforms demand from candidate countries legislation systems to focus on women and men equal opportunities.
The Committee of Ministers of Council of Europes Recommendations oblige the candidate countries, which supplies the equal rights in their constitutions, to form more precise legislation ensuing this decision.
Poland still has not prepared the law on equal opportunities of men and women. No regulations exist on this matter in the regional legislation of Mazowieckie Voivodeship either. In this respect the exchange of experience concerning legislative solutions applied in this field, especially with the experienced regions, is needed.
The Self-government of the Mazowieckie Voivodeship will organise
on 13-14 September 2002 in Warsaw a conference on Regional and National law regulations on equal status of women and men.
Organisers of the conference are putting the following issues ahead:
The conference will take place in Warsaw, where representatives of European Regions will meet to exchange views on equal chances of women and men. It is also foreseen that in regions such as: Il-de-France Region, Stockholm Region, Brussel-Capitol Region, there would be parallel conferences on the same topic.
The exchange of the informations will be transmitted via internet connections in form of a teleconference. That is why we kindly ask you to organise mini-studios, where there will be a possibility to put up a simultaneous discussion seen on a large monitor in Warsaw.
