New publication about Gender Equality in public services in Sweden

The Swedish government committee, JämStöd (Gender Mainstreaming Support), has spent two years working under a government mandate to provide informa-tion about gender mainstreaming and to develop practical methods and models for mainstreaming gender into central government activities. In Sweden there is general agreement about the fact that if Sweden is to retain her leading position in the iT & Telecom branch than both men and women have to be involved in developing new products and services.In reality, however, the figures are not so positive: only 18% of the new students enrolled at universities autumn 2007 are girls, 6% of the IT companies in Sweden are led by women CEOs and 9% och the Board members are women.
