The Buskerud County Culture Council has chosen Drammen to be the county's representative in the competition for the title of The Culture Municipality in Norway 2007.
The jury has taken the following in to account:

1. The continously ongoing  multicultural activities at Union Scene – The Drammen Centre of International Culture, and the annual International Week in Drammen.

2. The successful way of linking the city to the river through spacious and estethic park areas along the Drammen river

3. The development of Papirbredden Centre of Knowledge with the colocation of the muncipal-, county- and university libraries

4. The fact that the Municipality of Drammen aims to spend about 32,5 mill Euro on building a centre of multi use bathing facilities in the the near future.
