On Thursday the 12th of Octobre 2006, the official opening of the business centre in the inner city took place. The renovated building houses offices, a cafe, a high-tech videoconference room funded by VISP, 2 meeting rooms and 5 classrooms. On the 2nd and the 3rd floor you can find offices. Young starters can rent an office for a small price.

The business centre wants to support three target groups: young students, starters and experienced entrepreneurs. Students of different nationalities can follow courses. Their theses will be linked to the businessworld.Young starters get opportunities to write a good businessplan and start-up a succesful business. And more experienced SME's can work out new and commercial innovative ideas into concrete projects.

The Ondernemerscentrum is a co-operation between the City of Kortrijk, the Provinciale Ontwikkelingsmaatschappij (POM) West Flanders and the school for professional adult training Syntra West.

On the 23rd of October, the 'Innovation Awards' will be given to 20 students who have written an innovative paper.

'Within a few years the center should get at the top in the domain of multimedia. Thus, we also hope to draw the attention of foreign investors', says Mr. Jean de Bethune, the Alderman of Economy.
