Local service economy in Kortrijk

Kortrijk plays a leading role in local service economy in Flanders. This is part of social economy, in which new services on the scale of a neighbourhood, are set up in order to improve the quality of life of the users by focussing on collective and personal needs. These services create new sustainable jobs especially for difficult target groups.

Vzw Buurt-en NabijheidsDienst, active since the 6st of July 2006, implements the local action plan service economy of the City of Kortrijk, but explores also new opportunities.

The organisation now focuses on 4 sectors :
Book@Home : mobile library service
- Various neighourhoodservices : lending out material, transport for translocations, transport of rubbish, small and odd jobs
- Youth and teenage activities
- Kindergarten

The Buurt-en NabijheidsDienst is located on the Venning in Kortrijk.
