Prowess together with the East England Development Agency (EEDA), the Women Enterprise Partnership Project Group and with the support of the British Embassy, has in September launched the Women's Entrepreneurship Strategic Partnership Project for Turkey (WESP-T).
The aim of the project is to increase women's entrepreneurial skills by maximizing their active participation within local and regional economies in Turkey.
Keeping in mind that the economic empowerment of women is an important objective in its own right, which will also contribute to the requirements of Turkey's EU integration process, the project will try to increase women's entrepreneurial skills; to encourage and maximize their active participation and involvement in local and regional economic development. WESP-T will encourage women entrepreneurship, help the creation of attractive economic opportunities for women, and attempt to influence policy development in this area. While concentrating on these areas, WESP-T would also target developing sectors of the modern world, increase awareness among women of technology and innovation, to encourage women's taking an active role in these areas, as well as providing the necessary training and network support.
WESP-T will conduct studies to increase the promotion of women in sectors where they are disadvantaged, will seek to draw attention to the importance of strengthening the role of women in decision making in the public/private sector, and will highlight the importance of increased cooperation and collaboration among all women entrepreneurs and the stakeholders.
The conductors of the project plan to launch WESP-T the 1st of November with a seminar of 200 participants in Ankara where they will also form the strategy document and the training programs for the target group.
From January to the end of March next year, regional networks will be formed for "training of trainers," and then seven networking seminars will be organized in Gaziantep, Kayseri, Izmit, Izmir, Adana, Mersin and Bursa in order to raise awareness of entrepreneurship and innovation among Turkish women.
