International Cinderella - with women in command

Internationella Cinderella

International cruise for WRCs - for the first time on the 9-10th of March 2008 !

Join the international cruis with 1500 women from Stockholm to Åland. Women Resource Centres in Sweden have chartered Viking Line's Internationella Cinderella to unite the 600 resource centres for women all around Europe to focus on women's entrepreneurship, women and ICT, women in innovation and the situation of women in urban and rural areas.

Women Resource Centres were first started up in Sweden in the 1980's to support rural women in their struggle for survival in the 2000 km long country. The Swedish modell based on the empowerment of women and aimed at supporting women so that

  • women can have an equal share of the resources of society
  • women's competences are integrated into social development
  • women's and men's efforts are evaluated in an equal way

has rapidly spread throughout Europe and today there are appr 600 WRC's in Europe, since the 20th of June 2006 united in WINNET Europe.

The cruise was initiated by the Regional Resource Centre of Halland and Helén Andersson, the archetype of a successful entrepreneur with 30 years of experience and a true success story.

On the 9-10th of March 2008 the focus will be on

  • presenting WRCs as key drivers of regional development and growth
  • showing good examples of women's entrepreneurship
  • key issues for increasing the number of women educated, working in and staying in ICT and related branches
  • creating a platform and inviting to a dialogue for new sustainable partnerships
  • manifestation of the innovative capacity of women and the advantages of  genderequal and sustainable regional and global development

Invitation:

  • Public and private key actors and NGOs co-operating with WRCs
  • WRC's from Sweden and all around Europe and invited guests from other continents
