Gender and participation in the light of enlargement

Think & Act Conference in Budapest on the 21-22nd of May 2007

Welcome to Budapest!

The overall objective of Think & Act is the improved articulation between EC funded research results in the social sciences and humanities (SSH) and policy making at national, regional and local level in the European Union.
 
To achieve the objective, Think & Act mobilises a critical mass of over 1250 actors from the world of research, media and civil society.

A highly skilled consortium with complementary skills and experiences is organizing a strategic cycle of conferences in 5 capital cities¨within 28 months: Paris - January 2007, Rome - March 2007, Budapest - May 2007, Madrid - October 2007 and Istanbul - March 2007
  

The Budapest event : Programme.doc

Phase 1: Introduction of conference participants followed by a brief analysis of the concept of Gender mainstreaming.

Phase 2: Dissemination of European research results in regard to gender issues and participation of women within the European Union.

Phase 3: Operational observations from the field - presentations by project managers (non-researchers  mainly with NGO background) working in the field of gender issues in the EU who have intimate knowledge of current policy and hands on experience of the consequences of this policy.


Phase 4: Round Table Wrap-Up Meeting
Reflections from policy-makers attending the conference.  Main outcomes of the Conference will be presented to the media in a Press Conference immediately after the closure of the event.
