Resource center network in Mecklenburg-Westpommerania (Germany)

A common project for supporting female entrepreneurs
of the Institute for Data processing and Management GmbH and the association women into business in Rostock

RESURSCENTER IN SWEDEN

  • the idea of the establishment of resurs center has its roots in the female movement in rural
      areas in Sweden
  • in the second half ot the 90ies about 100 RC were developed, which caused very high
      interest in other countries
  • as a way to achieve more equality between men and women

The Swedish model of female entrepreneurship

  • development of female entrepreneurship
  • promotion of a female view in the regional and social development
  • sensibilisation for gender stereotypes and a gender view in politics
  • cooperation and networking of business women and female entrepreneurs to protect the
      existing businesses and to develop new products, new offers and new services
  • to overcome the social isolation


Development of the ressourcen center in Mecklenburg-Westpommerania

1999   start of the activities of the first ressourcen center in Rostock
2002- 2004 development of the existing network and start of the activities of 5 local  ressourcen center in rural areas (Sternberg, Bad Doberan, Grimmen, Wolgast, Stavenhagen)
2005-2007 continuation of the activities of the 5 RC and the establishment of 3 new RC (Rostock, Hagenow and Pasewalk)
2008  regionales ressourcen center network Mecklenburg-Westpommerania and participation in the European Association of  Women`s Ressource Centres WINNET EU 25

Objectives of the network ressourcen center in Mecklenburg-Westpommerania

  • to increase the proportion of female entrepreneurs 
  • to develop business and personal competences of women and the use them for the local and regional development
  • to motivate women for a take over of a business
  • to help women to get more chances and opportunities, giving them more influence in regional and social developing processes- in the same way as men have
  • to get support in starting up an own business and establish contacts with other business women
  • to have a community with the network ressourcen center in order to exchange experience
  • to  sensitize the partners in the network (local authorites, banks,) for the special needs and
  • situation of female entrepreneurs

Profile of the activity of the ressource center:

- Support in the process of starting up and consolidation of the business:

  • information and guidance in respect to  the start of a business and the consolidation of the existing business ( idea, business fields, regional conditions, partners)
  • analysis of ideas and common problems in business  life (financial strategy, situation on the market, chances of success)
  • seminars on business objectives under special consideration of the situation of women and men
  • Special topics on the basis of Gender Mainstreaming are:
    the change of rule from an employee or an unemployed to a business woman, compatability of business and family tasks, women and men in business)
  • individual coaching according to the special needs in the starting process and further consolidation such as promotion or financial advise
  • meetings of the regional networks ( participants of the project and other regional partners) and all networks throughout the country

               o Workshops
               o Roundtables
               o Launching of regional products on thr market

  • Arrangement of help and support for other business women of the network, e.g. by giving a practical training which can leed to a creation of a new  job
  • Mentoring cooperation of a successful business women with a female entrepreneur
  • Gender Trainings for partners of the network who  work for business women and men
  • Development of a supporting structure to realise gender equality in all business fields
