Women as artists
It is not an established tradition to open a collective exhibition of the works of female artists in Hungary, to say the least. As an innovative initiative, an art-exhibition, displaying the works of 21 female artists, was opened in Debrecen.
Film, literature and theatre all have their characteristic methods to interpret and show the essence of a woman's existence, mentality, and thinking. However, fine arts approach the internal mysteries of femininity and womanhood in yet another way.
It was not an objective of the collective exhibition of female artists to show women magnificient or exposed. Rather, the basic idea of the 2-week event was to present femininity in a delicate, unobtrusive manner.
The works created with different techniques are reflections of women with different lives and characters on themselves and the world. Among the various creations there are aquarelles, ceramics, enamel pictures, textile works, silk batik, and dresses.
The exhibition closed at the end of January, it cannot be viewed physically, but the works of the artists are collected in a virtual place on the Internet.
Hungarian women artists from Debrecen are sending their regards to WINNET members all through Europe. |
