Achievements and Projects in Hamburg Harburg

Dear VISP Partners,

Thanks to VISP we have been able to advance the development of the Harburg Inner Port. We took the chance of making our waterfront more interesting, worth living and also more attractive for new redevelopment concepts.
VISP did encourage our international and our local network. Projects, events and meetings created sustainable co-operations. Our knowledge based location has been promoted on an international level.

My special thanks go to Eva Fabry for her comprehensive and highly efficient management and coordination of the VISP Project.

An overview of our achievements & projects with regard to VISP you can read in this pdf-file.

The quality of the project organisation and the cooperation between the inhabitants, project participants e.g. building and property owner, involved planners, authorities as well as administrative units are among the most important success factors of any revitalization project.

In this respect Hamburg-Harburg turned out to be especially successful. A lively office and service location was created in Hamburg in just a few years thanks to a consensus-oriented planning process. The Castle Island restructuring concept as a result of an International Idea Contest was based on   Citizens‘ Participation.

The transformation of the formerly insular harbor area into a lively quarter was supported with several social and cultural events in cooperation with many different and relevant stakeholder groups and inhabitants of the area, i.e. pupils’ art and history projects, students’ planning initiatives, harbour festivals, and several information and discussion events focusing on citizens' participation.

The achievements for the Harburg Inner Port within the VISP project  were made possible thanks to the support of  all VISP Partners! A special big hug goes to Eva Fabry! We hope to see you again at our place, at your place or even in the VISP-Web.
