LEXIPATION

Citizens' Participation and Democratic Decision-Making in Europe. My Domplatz: Online Discussion in Hamburg from May 29 until June 14 realized by TuTech Innovation GmbH. Public involved to collaboratively work out a renewal concept of wide acceptance leading to a future land-use plan for the Domplatz

The LEXIPATION project is funded by the EC under the eParticipation Preparatory Action 2006.
In order to strengthen citizens' participation and democratic decision-making in Europe, this project is about to deploy and test the integrated ICT platform DEMOS from TuTech Innovation GmbH to conduct moderated online discourses on legislative proposals, involving policy makers, citizens and other socio-economic groups in the four selected testbeds of Hamburg (Germany), Thessaloniki (Greece), Massa (Italy) and Alston (UK).

LEXIPATION online discussion in Hamburg:
The local discussion topic refers to the field of spatial planning and urban development. The moderated online discussion will be used to generate new ideas and work out suitable concepts for the renewal of a central public space with cultural-historical importance in the inner city of Hamburg (Domplatz) in cooperation with the citizens.

As the city parliament decided to better integrate and reconstruct the Domplatz several approaches and architectural competitions have been made but yet an appropriate concept is missing. In the upcoming trial the department of urban development tries to involve the public to collaboratively work out a renewal concept of wide acceptance leading to a future land-use plan for the Domplatz.

The discussion starts on 29. May and ends at 14. June. The webpages will be: http://www.hamburg-domplatz.de and http://www.domplatz.hamburg.de

In different forums and sub forums the citizens of Hamburg can discuss their ideas and develop specific draft concepts in cooperation with other participants.

Additionally, the platform will offer several technical functions to create individual architectural layouts by help of the feature "my Domplatz". It contains a map of this place with zoom and notation functions enabling the users to place and describe single objects in an own draft.
