Invitation to Enterprising Women in European Research

Women in Business Congress and Final Congress of WomEn2FP6 to be opened by Minister of Economic Affairs of Baden-Württemberg Ernst Pfister on Friday, 7. April in Stuttgart, Germany

The Women in Business Congress and the Final Congress of the European project Enterprising Women in European Research – WomEn2FP6 will take place under the motto of “Opportunities – Growth – Innovation”.

The Congress will take place on Friday, 7th April 2006 in the Culture and Congress Centre Liederhalle in Stuttgart, Germany. Women entrepreneurs, freelancers and decision makers will have the opportunity to exchange experience, network and get new impulses for their own professional activities. Participation at the event is free of charge. Congress languages are English and German.

The Congress is organised by the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Baden-Württemberg and Steinbeis-Europa-Zentrum, who coordinate the European Pro-ject WomEn2FP6 (Enterprising Women in European Research).

The Congress will be opened by the Minister for Economic Affairs of Baden-Württemberg Ernst Pfister. Professor Dr. phil. Gertrud Höhler, who is one of Germany’s best known communication and business advisers in Germany, will deliver the key-note speech. Six thematic workshops will take place in which par-ticipants can receive new impulses and innovative ideas of gaining access to new markets, regions and countries and first-hand information from women en-trepreneurs who present their good practices.

In the European Session WomEn2FP6, trainers and partners of the project will not only present the results of the project but also inform how women entrepre-neurs can get involved in European Research Projects.

Four women entrepre-neurs who received support through the WomEn2FP6 Project will discuss their involvement and their advantages in participation.

WomEn2FP6 has reached and trained nearly 700 women entrepreneurs and, to date, has allowed over 45 women entrepreneurs to participate in a European research project.

The „Marketplace“, which will take place during the programme breaks allows participants to network with other entrepreneurs and experts who can offer advi-sory services in doing day-to-day business. The Congress ends with an informal reception.

Women entrepreneurs have an important role to play not just in Germany’s but also in Europe’s economic future - 27% of the self-employed population are wo-men and approximately one third of businesses are started by women. And even though women often start small and stay small, they have created 1.9 million work opportunities. Highly trained and qualified women that are well prepared for the challenges of global competition are essential for the future.

The Ministry of Economic Affairs of Baden-Württemberg supports the Congress with funds from the European Social Fund.

The WomEn2FP6 Final Congress is funded by the European Commission, Directorate General Research.

The Congress takes place on Friday, 7th April 2006 in the Culture and Congress Centre Liederhalle, Berliner Platz 1-3, in Stuttgart, Germany.
